This course is taught in a classroom which is well equipped for the delivery of both Music and Music Technology courses
Resources Young People will use
Young people will have access to a large variety of musical instruments for Music courses. Young people will have access to a mini suite of desktop computers, microphones and recording equipment, plus personal iPads, for Music Technology courses.
Links with other partners/agencies
Previous young people studying music performance have had the opportunity to work with music charities to perform on stage and record in music studios.
Previous young people studying Music Technology have had the opportunity to visits recording studios and put their skills to practical use supporting live performances.
Course Outline
If you enjoy performing and love to listen to music then this course is for you. The Music course provides learners with the opportunity to:
- Rehearse and perform a music programme in one or two instruments of their choice
- Develop and enhance their skills in listening
- Develop an understanding of a range of musical concepts
- Explore their creative side by learning how to compose music
In Music, learners may achieve SQA National 1-4 full awards or units only, as appropriate.
Music Technology
If you enjoy listening to music, digital technologies, movies and video games, this course is for you. The Music Technology course provides learners with the opportunity to:
- Explore their creative and technical skills whilst creating a sound track for a video
- Explore acoustics whilst learning techniques in audio capture
- Develop their planning and directing skills in addition to technological skills whilst compiling a recording project
- Develop and enhance their skills in listening
- Develop an understanding of a range of music and technological concepts
In Music Technology, learners may achieve SQA National 1-4 full awards or units only, as appropriate.
