I am delighted to welcome you to the Cardinal Winning Secondary School website and offer you the chance to glimpse into the events, successes and opportunities that are available in our school for young people with a range of additional needs. 

Cardinal Winning Secondary is a Catholic secondary school supporting 125 young people to grow and develop academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally. A team of committed and caring teachers, supported by a compassionate and skilled team of Support for Learning Workers, strives to ensure that every young person entrusted to our care develops the skills and confidence needed to lead successful, happy and fulfilling lives. 

Our curriculum offers many opportunities to learn in creative and bespoke ways; a range of curricular classroom based activities are often supplemented by sensory focussed learning and vocational experiences in school, at college or in the community. Our Wellbeing afternoons every Friday allow our young people to develop social skills and to be supported to establish new friendships all whilst learning new skills and experiencing new activities. 

Residentials, excursions and visits and our many lunchtime clubs all help to ensure learning is varied, engaging and rich in opportunity to grow and develop in both familiar and new contexts. We have strong links to colleges and local business partners who help us prepare our pupils for adulthood. 

At the heart of all we do is our shared belief in the God given talents and dignity of every individual; our school values of Faith, Dignity, Integrity, Respect and Ambition underpin all our relationships and all that we do; as we celebrate our Catholic faith, so too do we celebrate all that is unique in our young people, their gifts, their talents and their potential. 

I value and am very grateful for the support and partnership we have with our families, the parents and carers who have entrusted us with the care of their children. We are committed to working alongside families to agree, plan and provide the most appropriate support, which in turn permits the appropriate challenge needed to ensure the fulfilment of our young people's full potential. Working in partnership with other agencies when required, we aim to support all aspects of a young person's developmental needs.
