The Course is taught in a specially constructed car valeting area adjacent to the school building.

Pupils will use the valeting area.

Pupils will gain practical experience in valeting and car maintenance.

Links with other partners/agencies

During this course young people may have the opportunity to visit local valeting companies to observe how their skills are applied in a real-world situation.

Course Outline

If you love cars, being outdoors and working with others this course is for you!

  • Learners will participate in valeting and basic maintenance of vehicles
  • Learners will learn how to use a variety of valeting and vehicle maintenance equipment safely and correctly
  • Learners will learn skills relevant to working as a team

In this subject, learners may achieve an SQA National 2 unit.

Skills Developed through this Course

  • Young People will have the opportunity to develop and practise a range of skills required to develop life skills or gain employment in the expanding valeting industry.
  • Customer service skills
  • Basic financial skills and awareness of profit and loss
  • Essential employability skills for the valeting industry such as, working as part of a team associated with a valeting production line.

Progression Pathways

It is hoped that the work experience gained in the car valeting unit will enable pupils to progress more easily to a post school destination and develop important Life Skills.
