The inspiration and power of the arts play a vital role in enabling our children and young people to enhance their creative talent and develop their artistic skills.
By engaging in experiences within the expressive arts, children and young people will recognise and represent feelings and emotions, both their own and those of others.
In drama pupils learn the different skills and conventions associated with drama such as role play, improvisation, characterisation and movement and mime. There is also the opportunity for interdiciplinary work where drama can link up with a class core topic. Pupils are given a creative platform to explore and understand different scenarios whilst also developing confindence in groupwork, communication skills.
Drama is taught from S1 to S3 with a futher options in 4th year of achieving a qualification in Performing Arts. This is often done in collaboration with the Music Department where pupils work towards putting on a school show.
